About The Event
In this immersive two-day workshop, we will delve into the foundations of Butoh dance, exploring its connection to the themes of wisdom, intuition and the new cycle inspired by the Chinese Year of the Snake.
The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the foundational practices of Butoh, enabling them to improvise and begin crafting their own choreographies and expressions. To this end, the workshop will include dance practices, training techniques, and performance approaches within this art form, often referred to as contemporary ritual dance.
On the first day, we will focus on the physical and sensory foundations of Butoh, exploring the centers that ground and propel this dance: the center of the body, the center of the self, and the expanded perception of these centers in movement.
